Pizza Crescent Roll Appetizer

Searching for a delicious kid-friendly appetizer?  Look no further!  We made these delicious pizza crescent rolls appetizers for the big game last year and they were perfect.  I mean come on, who does not love pepperoni pizza or crescent rolls?  Put the two together and you have a snack that young and old will enjoy.

Fantastic and easy pizza crescent roll recipe

The way to make these is pretty similar to my pesto sausage crescent rolls.  All you need is pizza sauce, crescent rolls pepperoni and cheese (I used a mix of cheddar and mozzarella).

How to make pizza crescent rolls

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. On a piece of parchment paper, roll out the crescent rolls into a large sheet.  Overlap and pinch any seams to make one large connected sheet of dough.

Spread on a coating of pizza sauce, leave about 1/2 an inch of dough uncovered at top and bottom longwise.

Next layer on a small amount of cheese (not all of your cheese, just about 1/3 of it).

Top with a layer of pepperoni slices.  I spread mine out perfectly to make sure there was even coverage.

Add the rest of the cheese on top to make it nice and cheesy.

Starting from one of the long sides, begin rolling this into a log.  Since you left the extra 1/2 inch un-sauced, the dough can seal to itself and keep the log closed.

Toss into the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes to make the log easier to cut into slices.  In the meantime, spray your cookie sheet with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Cut the log into slices about a half inch thick and spread out on cookie sheet. Pop into the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until cooked and golden brown.

Holiday Traditions: Dill Dip Recipe

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! There are some things in life that will always make me giddy with excitement, and one of those is our family’s dill dip recipe.  It is so simple, but one of those things that we only make around the holidays for some reason.  Imagine me doing the food dance in the kitchen while eating an entire bowl of this to myself.  That is probably what I am doing right now as you are reading this, because this dill dip recipe is seriously that good.

Dill Dip Holiday Recipe

Not only delicious, but ridiculously easy too.


  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 3 tablespoons minced onion flakes
  • 3 teaspoons dried dill weed
  • 3 teaspoons beau monde

Dill Dip Holiday Recipe Ingredients

Mix all the ingredient together in a large bowl.  Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Trust me, the dip is better once chilled so that the dried herbs are not crunchy.  Serve with your choice of veggies, cracker or bread.  I prefer carrots, celery and bell pepper as my dipping weapons of choice.  I am so excited for the Holidays can can’t wait to be gorging on all the amazing food.  Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving :)

Mealtime Monday: Delicious Fried Raviolis

Welcome back to Mealtime Monday!  Today we have a really quick and easy meal that can be made as part of a dinner or as an appetizer.  I figured it made since to post an easy meal this week while we are enjoying vacation in South Lake Tahoe.

Delicious Fried Ravioli Recipe

All you will need for ingredients are:

  • Parmesan cheese
  • Italian bread crumbs
  • 1-2 eggs
  • Ravioli (preferably larger sized ones)

Making Yummy Fried Raviolis

Crack your eggs into one bowl and whip.  Pour a nice heap of bread crumbs in another bowl and add about 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.  Mix together.

then into the breadcrumb mixture to coat.

Heat cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the breaded raviolis.

Cook until brown, then flip to other side and repeat.  Remove from pan onto a paper towel to soak up excess oil.  Serve and enjoy.  I had pesto and a roasted tomato sauce and thought they made great dipping sides.

Bacon Jalapeño Poppers

Heaven in a bite.  Bacon, with oozing cheese and a little kick from jalapeno.  So easy and so good!

My sister’s family was supposed to come visit for the Superbowl, but unfortunately they all came down with the flu and had to cancel.  No fun having a 3 year old with an ear infection at a Superbowl party.  So, when they visited a few weeks ago, her only request was to have appetizers for dinner to make up for missing out.  Being that I LOVE appetizers, I was happy to oblige.  We decided to try out a few new recipes including cheeseburger sliders, and after looking at bacon wrapped jalapenos on Pinterest, I knew we had to give these lovelies a try.  I could not find an exact recipe to follow, so I decided to wing it and they came out great!

Ingredients (makes 12 poppers):
6 Jalapenos
12 Slices Center Cut Bacon
4 Ounces Less Fat Cream Cheese
1/4 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/4 Cup Shredded Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese
Salt & Pepper

Mac ‘n Cheese Bites

Have I ever told you that I am obsessed with Mac ‘n cheese? Yes, I know it is one of those comfort foods that one should outgrow after the age of 5, but I just love it so much! For the Super Bowl this year, I made a delicious batch of Mac ‘n Cheese Bites from a recipe on Food & Wine. I am now waiting for any excuse to make them again.

Yummy Mac & Cheese Bites

Ingredients (makes 24 mini bites):
1/2 Pound Elbow Macaroni
1 1/2 Tablespoons Butter, Plus More For Brushing
1/4 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
2 Tablespoons Flour
3/4 Cup 3% Milk
1 Cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar
8 Slices of American Cheese
1 Egg Yolk
1/4 Teaspoon Paprika

Taco Cupcakes

One of the best parts of Super Bowl Sunday is getting to try out fun appetizer recipes.  I had been waiting for an excuse to try and make taco cupcakes after seeing Emily Bites’ recipes on her blog.  With a few tweaks to the recipe to suit my taste and utilize ingredients on hand, they turned out soooo goooood!

Taco Cupcakes Appetizer - Yum!!

Ingredients (make 8 large cupcakes):
1/2 Pound Ground Beef (I normally prefer 97% lean, but used 80% since that was all they had at Safeway)
1/2 Cup Fresh Salsa
1 Cup Black Beans
Queso Dip
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Wonton Wrappers
Olive Oil Spray
1.5 Teaspoons Cumin
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
3-4 Dashes Cayenne
1 Teaspoon Season All

Superbowl Appetizers

I know, I know, this is a little late.  Life has been so hectic with between work and going through the process of buying a house, that I have been neglecting my poor little blog. So, it is time to catch up, starting with our delicious spread from Super Bowl Sunday.

Super Bowl Appetizers

Our menu included:

1. Spicy Little Smokies: This year we found out that Aidell’s make mini sausages and bought a double pack with chicken apple and spicy. We used the spicy only, but made the same simple sauce with grape jelly and chili sauce as last year. So Yummy!

2. Buffalo Chicken Cheese Dip: Same great dip as last year. In case you missed it before, here is the recipe.

3.Ham & Cheese Crescent Log: This ended being more of a lunch than an appetizer, but could be used as either. It was a recipe created out of what we had on hand, left over ham and sliced swiss cheese. Recipe coming soon!

4. Taco Cupcakes: Can I just say, these taco cupcakes were AMAZING! I cannot wait to share the recipe in the next few days. I mean, queso, meat, guacamole, yum! Click here for the recipe!

5. Mac & Cheese Bites: And finally, delicious little bites of cheesy goodness. I saw these on Pinterest months ago and patiently waited for the right moment to indulge. Click here for the recipe!

Zucchini-Potato Bites

One thing I love about summer…the abundance of zucchini! I have had so much fun lately trying out new recipes, and when I came across a recipe for Zucchini Tots from Skinny Taste, I just knew I had to try them out! Little bite sized morsels of zucchini, egg and cheese, sounds like a great breakfast treat to me, and a great excuse to finally buy a mini muffin pan :)

Zucchini Potato Bites

My husband is not a big fan of zucchini, so as soon as I told him my idea he was not all that thrilled. He asked me to add some potato to the tots, and it sounded like a good idea to me. I also mixed it up by using Parmesan cheese instead of cheddar, since I like the way zucchini and parm taste together. I must say they were quite the hit. He loved them!
